Why This Matters

Education should prepare students not just for tests, college, or careers—but for life in an interconnected, fragile, and rapidly changing world.

Right now, no AP course exists that gives students the chance to develop global competence, intercultural understanding, and civic action skills in a holistic way.

An AP Global Citizenship course would fill this gap—equipping young people with the knowledge, values, and skills they need to navigate complexity and act responsibly in their communities and the wider world.

Our Vision

AP Global Citizenship would provide students with the opportunity to:

  • Understand systems: Explore how environment, migration, economy, and technology interconnect and affect their lives.

  • Question narratives: Critically evaluate how issues are represented and whose voices are included or excluded.

  • See connections: Link local issues to global challenges, and global challenges to local realities.

  • Take informed action: Practice civic responsibility by engaging with real-world problems through projects and initiatives.

This is not just another AP course—it is a framework for preparing students to thrive in a globalized world.
